Completed Projects
Cacahual Village School Construction
On November 1, 2008, AMPCO, with the assistance of Proyectos y Construcciones (PROCONST), a locally owned vendor, commenced the construction of a small school and teacher accommodation located in Cacahual Village. The old school had
been an old cocoa drying house was that had deteriorated beyond repair, and was inhabited by a nest of bats. Approximately fifty primary school children used this building as a makeshift school. The project scope was to build a 2-classroom school, a toilet facility, and a 2-bedroom teacher accommodation. AMPCO can be very proud for having completed one of its most ambitious CSR projects in Equatorial Guinea within budget and on time. The approximate cost was $400,000 with a construction period of nine months.
Gobena Mendo School Volunteer Project
In September 2007, AMPCO completed the rehabilitation of a small school in Batete, a village located close to Luba. The school consisted of 4 classrooms and 5 teachers accommodations. Over fifty (50) employee volunteers from all three Punta Europa companies (AMPCO, Marathon E.G. Production Limited, and EGLNG) and twenty (20) local residents of Batete participated in this two-day project. Each classroom was repainted while all classroom furniture was repaired or replaced. Additionally, the plumbing system supplying the accommodations was repaired while the entire school's electrical system was rewired.
White Beach Clean Up
On November 7th, 2007, the Punta Europa
companies' employees joined forces to complete a volunteer clean up on one of the local beaches located near Luba. Around 65 volunteer employees, both expatriate and national, spent the day collecting trash and removing it with the assistance of the Luba City Hall. In addition, boots and gloves were distributed to local residents to assist with future clean ups.
Throughout 2008, AMPCO, MEGPL and EGLNG worked directly with the white beach residents to ensure the beach remained clean on a weekly basis. This included an incentive donation of a 10 KVa generator and construction materials to the village.
